Prenatal/Birth/Attachment Professional Training

The work that I have done with Myrna Martin over the past few years has been invaluable. I am now able to differentiate past trauma from present day situations and respond accordingly. I now respond from a resourced adult person; not from the reaction of an angry child or the non-response of a frozen child. I have learned skills that support me in my evolution, as well as the evolution of clientele and students searching for wholeness and greater health. I am grateful to the founders of Pre & Perinatal Psychology and Myrna's masterful skills. I have received great benefit from the science and wisdom of the Professional Training program, and am honored to be carrying the work forward in my future practice.

4 years ago I attended the Strengthening Attachment Seminar and I began a life changing journey about my life and my bond with my daughter. I am currently enrolled in the Professional Training and have completely changed my practice with families including really being present, holding space, and appreciating each for their rich story. My personal work with Myrna has supported me to make healthy changes for myself and my family. This work, in my perspective, is truly precious and remarkable!

Participating in the Pre and Perinatal Training with Myrna is the most profound experience of my life. As she teaches this life changing new perspective, Myrna reflects compelling leadership, creativity and fun. Her vast depth of knowledge has allowed me to explore and understand my early experiences so I can choose to relearn and re-pattern them in the presence of the safety and protection Myrna holds. She has the capacity to support our greatest fears with fearless compassion and opens our intelligence to the power of possibility. Change begins with every one of us.

I have almost completed my professional training with Myrna and find her to be an extraordinary facilitator. I find her presence very grounding. I am in awe of her huge capacity to hold presence and her ability to navigate through challenging situations inspiring. When presenting the material that can sometimes be activating for people, she shares it in a very slow, integrated way making it easier for the participants to hear it, and take it in. I wholeheartedly recommend the professional training with Myrna to anyone that was interested.

As an experienced ECE Waldorf teacher, Mother of 7, Grandmother of 5, I would definitely encourage anyone to do this training. It is like going to finishing school or finding the missing link.

As an ECE teacher I found myself referring Myrna over and over to parents, because in a group setting we could not always heal or release younger shock or trauma. I felt how wonderful that those early issues could be addressed before coming to school or daycare. Now I feel that even I can bring this quality of Presence in the context also. Here is a window of seeing and listening which is new.

In this era where children are exposed so early to such an immense field of media and screens and sounds and noise, I often felt encouraged to meet these little beings and create an oasis for them. Now I know I can be that oasis, not just the wonderful Waldorf curriculum sustaining I and them. I have done my own birth journey; I know how to pause, create a surround with the parents and bring that soft holding with its magical presence which I believe all children are born longing for.

So for those of you who are trained via Waldorf or so appreciate the Emmi Pikler RIE way, this is the missing link.

As a mother I am slowly recognizing and sharing birth stories with all of my children, all of whom I had thought in the past: well not bad, no drugs and vaginal birth! Now I know there were all kinds of other difficulties. As a grand mother I have been invited to be present at my grand children's' births. How wonderful that I could bring this larger, yummier quality of presence. I like to think that I made a difference at the very beginning of their life.
As for myself, the whole journey of revisiting my own birth and releasing there... that has brought me closer to my midline and more HERE...

In many ways this training has enhanced my life and those whom I encounter. I am sharing all the time. There are pregnant women everywhere.

Myrna's Professional Training has been a huge blessing to me both personally and professionally. It has really "connected the dots" for me in so many ways in my Craniosacral Therapy practice, especially in my work with pregnant women and small children. Myrna is a gifted and generous teacher, and her many years of experience in the Perinatal field really show in the depth and breadth of her training program.

I have been working in the childcare profession for the past 6 years. For 2 years I have been working at the Vancouver Waldorf School as an infant/toddler caregiver. I find this work very satisfying and rewarding.
I am currently taking the prenatal/birth attachment professional training led by Myrna Martin in Nelson, B.C. This training continues to enhance my ability in being present with the children. I feel that I am much more aware of their signals and what they want me to know from them. I also have been impacted by how important it is for the children to feel connected to their caregiver/s. This training has influenced every interaction I have with the children.
Part of the foundation training is doing process workshops where I have been able to get in touch with some of the issues from my own birth. During these processes I have discovered and let go of old beliefs about myself. Now when a situation arises and I feel myself getting reactivated by a child's behavior, I am able to stay calm and present in myself and see what is needed in this situation and not go into a pattern of response that I would have done before.
The professional training has given me more confidence to speak my truth to parents about what I notice about their children. Interacting with the parents I feel my capacity to supporting them with their relationship with their children has increased immensely. I have been sharing my impression of what the child needs as an outside observer of their relationship. They are open to the input I have suggested and have been very grateful for the support. This is such a vital role in the education of the parents since there isn't the extended family to rely or depend on. I totally respect and support these young parents, as it is difficult for them to leave their young one for so long during the day.

The Prenatal/Birth/Attachment Professional Training has enhanced my understanding and awareness of early childhood trauma and the importance of healthy attachment in developing trust in relationships. As a result of the training, I have increased my capacity to work with young children from an inner space of compassion, authenticity, equanimity and respect. Meeting children and families with these qualities facilitates their ability to trust and builds the capacity to create health relationships - a necessary foundation for all learning.

Process Workshops

As a parent of 5 children, I seek out the most helpful information and support I can to parent in a way that honors the gifts of each of my children. I have found that although this is my desire, it has been difficult due to the challenges I faced growing up, and the losses I sustained as a child, including the loss of my mother at 10 years old.
I have searched high and low for the kind of support that would help me to move through my own difficulties, to be more present and joyful with my children. After 20 years of searching, I have found the system that truly works towards lasting positive change. This is Myrna Martin's Process Workshops and her Birth and Prenatal Therapy. After attending her seminars and process workshops I feel so much more connected with myself, with my husband and my children. We still have challenges, but we have more love and more joy, which makes the challenges so much easier to bear. I am truly thankful for the miracles that the pre and Perinatal Therapy have worked in my life.

I highly recommend Myrna's Process Workshops to anyone interested in exploring their own early trauma issues. Doing this intimate, safe, group work with Myrna has helped me to begin to successfully navigate some of my lifelong emotional patterns connected with being a surviving twin. Myrna has very elegantly and powerfully facilitated my explorations into some deep, deep territory, places that were never touched by other types of individual or group work. I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with Myrna in this way.

The workshop has been truly a wonderful tool for self exploration and transformation. Words that come to mind are gentle, non-threatening, safe, and easy as well as powerful, and deeply healing. Myrna has gifts far beyond her vast wealth of training and experience. She truly has the caring and nurturing heart needed to make this work so effective.

I did not exactly know what to expect a birth process workshop to be like or what I might experience. I now know that it was one of the best choices I've ever made to nourish myself and to receive nourishment from others. The space created allowed me to feel totally safe and comfortable, enabling me to hear what my body wanted and needed to express. Since the workshop, I have had great success integrating a sense of receiving more and more nurturing moments for me and less desire to solve the world's problems. I have more time and love for me. I look forward to the next round of birthing myself!

Myrna's work teaches me that my body has the answers; my body knows what the next step is and just how to take that step. In the workshops, we go slow enough to hear what our bodies are telling us. Imagine! A whole roomful of people, just listening, listening to what the body wants and needs in the moment and the space to have those needs met. A whole roomful of people learning to translate the body's impulses without those impulses being interrupted by historical conditioning, yet acknowledging the conditioning if it's called for.

Strengthening Families Testimonials

We came for our child who was born very premature. She was displaying much anger at the age of 3 which was way over the top of acceptable. Today we have a child who can self regulate her emotions and mood and anger extremely well. She is aware of her emotions and responses at a high level, quite remarkable. As a family who is separated and co parenting we no longer have problems with her out of control anger and we as parents are aware of and able to implement parenting skills that make for healthy relationships all around. I attribute this directly to the help provided in this program

A father

We were fighting and yelling a lot. We learned to talk things out instead of yell and became more understanding towards each other. We wouldn’t be together now - we were truly helped.

A pregnant couple

Myrna helped us with strengthening and bonding. There is a better comfort zone with my son, more active, more fun, less conflicts. He understands his father is his father. He interacts with other kids well, before he would not, he is almost caught up in his development.

A single father recently getting custody of his son

Our family came because my partner and I were unable to cope with our son’s rages and tantrums. He no longer rages. They have been replaced with anger, and he appears to have the emotional ability to master his emotional state by using tools taught at counseling…our family is more open about our emotions and we can now talk about feelings. Our kids are more open and spontaneous. I have a sense of empowerment. My son reciprocates trust by being open and honest and I believe this is a direct result of the counseling.

Seminars

I appreciate this opportunity to be exposed to this vital information. Realizing how our babies are communicating if we will only take the time and space to allow them to do it.

I will use what I learned here everyday in my work with children.

I liked Myrna’s approach, resources, and scientific background. I learned to slow down, to look at reactions and behaviors of children differently. I see a huge need for this work, and feel I eager for more training.

I know this workshop will influence all my interactions with families in community, at work, and in my home. I am deeply touched

I am able to interpret children’s acting out behavior through a whole new lens. More people could really use this information, the scientific basis as to why attachment needs to be looked at!

I liked learning in a collective space with other caring professionals. Receiving lots of the scientific details supporting what I already know- seeing how Myrna actually works with the children and the parents – I will becoming from a more compassionate place with parents. Just feel so grateful for the work Myrna is doing. Would love to refer her over and over to families I am in contact with. Wish I could bring my children for healing. I liked everything about this presentation. Thank you, thank you.

I liked the pace of this class..the complete information..use of several teaching materials like videos, powerpoint slide shows, stories and exercises. What will make a difference with families I work with 'time in' instead of 'time out'; more empathy, a better starting place by looking at prenatal and early times.
